Euro 537 000 payday makes Barcelona a warm memory
Playing a canny but low profile game, and starting with one of the lower chip stacks, poker pro Markus Lehmann did not at first look like a winner at the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship in Barcelona this week....but the Austrian came from behind to show them how it was done, taking home the Euro 537 000 top prize.
The heads up between Ludovic Lacay of France and Lehmann was preceded by a solid poker competition in which top guns like Gus Hansen (fifth place), Steve Sung (fourth) and Christer Johansson (third) were eliminated from a lively final table.
The final confrontation was firmly controlled by Lehmann and did not take long to decide as he won several major pots and took the game when he flopped top pair to beat Lacay's second pair. For his second place Lacay picked up a check for Euro 295 200. |
