Event 27 pays out $603 069 to Stucke

World Series of Poker event prize-pools and individual prizes continue to spread an impressive amount of wealth around in Las Vegas as the world's greatest pokerfest continues, with event 27 - the $1 500 No Limit Hold 'Em - attracting an entry of 2 315 pokerheads looking to win a $603 069 main prize and an attractive money bubble if they missed out.

By Sunday that field had been narrowed down to 135 - all in the money - in a contest notable for its fast and high attrition rate, and by Monday only the final table of nine were left. Seth Weinger was looking good as chip leader on 1 715 000, well ahead of nearest opponent David Woo on 1 114 000 with the low man, Luis Sanchez on 116 000.

Business commenced with the fast and expert play that has characterised many of this year's WSOP events, seeing Thai Ton ousted in ninth place when his suited A-6 failed to improve against chip leader Seth Weinger's turned pair of kings. Two hands later Louis Sanchez's low chip count caught up with him when he was given the boot by David Woo's trip aces in position 8.

Play settled down a little after this initial flurry of activity, and the next player to go to the rail was Tom Dobrilovic, eliminated by Young Cho's flopped aces to take the seventh place money home. 20 hands later Noah Freedman got it all-in with Weinger when both players flopped a pair of tens, but Freedman held the smaller kicker and was out in position 6.

David Woo was first in the six-figure pay bracket when he was eliminated at position 5 by Weinger and headed for the cashier and a payday of $115 339.  Michael Ium followed him in position 4, another victim of Weinger's talent and good fortune, earning $164 319 for his participation.

The surprising elimination of Weinger, who had taken down most of the defeated players that far occurred in a big hand where Dave Stucke hit a flush, ending Weinger's day in the third slot with a $246 478 pay check.

Entering heads up play, it took only another four hands for Stucke to bust Young Cho with a pair of pocket sevens after the board failed to help Cho's J-3. The bracelet, the watch and the main prize of $603 069 were all Dave Stucke's, while Cho took home $382 357 for finishing second.
